GLOBAL GROWTH (5 FUNDS)
Global markets have had another good year, with the MSCI World index having returned nearly 13 per cent so far in 2024 as of late August. But the nature of this market does no favours to active funds: US tech majors have driven much of the return, and make up a big chunk of the index that stockpickers typically fail to match or exceed due to diversification rules.
The MSCI World index is also heavily US-centric, with the country accounting for roughly 70 per cent of assets. Some concerns about this top-heaviness became reality over the summer when US tech sold off heavily, dragging down broader markets.
