Supercar admirers are naturally drawn to statistics â€“ be it acceleration, brake horsepower, torque or top speed. But if investors took the same approach to the cars’ manufacturers, what would be the categories on which they’re judged, and how might each perform?

A straightforward comparison is complicated by ownership models and classification, although there is one standout.

Privately-owned manufacturers or those that are subsidiaries of the major listed automakers have to make fewer disclosures both in quantum and calendar terms than standalone listed companies such as Aston Martin (AML), Ferrari (IT:RACE) and Porsche (DE:P911).
