While most active managers insist that their portfolio is notably different from their benchmark’s, not all have as much right to that claim as Doug Ledingham, manager of the Pacific Assets Trust (PAC) together with David Gait.

The trust invests in the Asia Pacific region, excluding Japan, New Zealand and Australia. It catches the eye how different the trust's portfolio country weighting is to that of the MSCI AC Asia ex Japan index or, to put it more bluntly, how much the trust’s managers appear to love investing in India and distrust China.
