On Tuesday 5 November, the US will decide who its 47th president will be. Usually, the impact of the president is overblown in the lead up to the elections, when in fact they aren’t that far away from each other in terms of policy. However, this isn’t an ordinary election.
Analysts have been speculating about the relative impact of the candidates' different policies. Republican candidate Donald Trump is proposing putting 20 per cent tariffs on all imports and cutting taxes. Meanwhile, Democratic candidate Kamala Harris rejects Trump’s plan to put tariffs on US allies and instead wants to raise money through corporate and income tax increases.
